Are you craving a delicious, healthy and fresh sandwich? Better come over to Langer’s pretty soon or else you’re going to spend some time waiting in line between the ropes already set there – which shows how popular the place is among the local population. Regardless of the lines, it is really worth the wait just so you can have a hand-sliced hot pastrami, Russian Dressing, Swiss Cheese on Double-Baked Rye Bread, Cole Saw and many other delicious meals. The restaurant is famous for its sandwiches, the early enough well-pickled meat is seasoned and prepared so it would taste perfectly. Then it is hand-sliced in thick slices and served with freshly baked rye bread, sauce and raw salad. Of course there are many more variations of this sandwich that you can try at the Langer’s restaurant, see for yourself what it tastes like.

You’re looking for a genuine classical Italian restaurant? From the moment you see this restaurant you can feel it’s a classic straight from Italy. You can also feel it while sitting inside and most important, seeing and eating their delicious food. It’s a regular restaurant with simple, classical and well-made genuine Italian food. You will mostly get such food there as pesto, spaghetti alla carbonara, gnocchi etc. There’s a warm and pleasant atmosphere inside, it is also worth noting that they offer large servings of their meals ( the place is vegetarian-friendly and gluten free ).


Providence is not only great food but also an interesting interior and decor of the restaurant, the service and of course pleasant atmosphere. You’ll mostly find experimental seafood dishes here. The prices are pretty high, but trying those specialties is really worth it. If you want to try something truly unknown then do come over to Providence. The appetite for great cooking definitely gets higher, and Providence has one of the best cooking in LA. It is not a regular restaurant, it’s a place for those who wish to discover something truly new and unusual. To the question of where one can eat something incredible you can answer that at Providence – this place differs from all those regular ( including the great ones ) restaurants.

4. Tocaya Organica Venice – ( New after Barnyard Venice )

Tocaya offers modern Mexican food using the highest quality ingredients ( it cooperates with local farmers ). The idea is only selling fresh and relatively organic ingredients. There’s nothing fried or frozen here, everything is cooked right after placing the order. Their products are also GMO-free and without any steroids etc. In this free space you can get Tacos, salads, bowls and burritos. On top of that, you can also drink interesting beer or wine. The large free space inside the restaurant is very interesting and quaint. The location is decent, close to the beach, very full of life. The food is healthy of course, and the prices are reasonable. I recommend this place for everyone who values healthy food ( especially the Mexican kind ).

5. Barnyard Venice – Update ! ( Closed )

Sadly this restaurant is closed down already, but I recommend checking all the other suggestions.

The food at Barnyard is the purview of Chef Jesse Barber, formerly Chef de Cuisine at Tasting Kitchen, who trained with Thomas Keller at French Laundry. But fear not, Barber is an intellectual, in search of satisfaction and simplicity. There will be a refreshing lack of pretention on the plate and in the glass. Barber is a purist, focusing on local and seasonal ingredients, drawing mostly on Mediterranean and classical cooking techniques. There will be no foams or molecular hocus-pocus, just simple, local and delicious food.

Since the ‘60s, our location at 1715 Pacific has been a refuge for locals seeking a hearty, honest bite. Sitting on its own parking lot, next to Asylm’s famous blue graffiti box, Barnyard stays true to its beach legacy. Fully remodeled, the space is light, airy and open to the Pacific breeze, with modern, yet rustic interiors. The back patio is surrounded by greenery, with sofas and a community table encouraging groups to gather. Overlooking Pacific Avenue, our covered front patio is perfect for a sunny lunch or an evening drink with friends.

Barnyard is an intimate neighborhood restaurant by Chef Jesse Barber, bringing a soulful and rustic menu of small and shared plates, small-production wines and beers to South Venice.

Known for his mastery of meats and fish, Barber imbues his dishes with Mediterranean and Japanese flavors and textures. House-made sausages, slow-cooked stocks and seasonal produce are meticulously cared for; the quality refelects Barber's training under Thomas Keller, at French Laundry and Bouchon.

As the opening Chef de Cuisine at The Tasting Kitchen in Venice, Jesse led a troupe of talented, young professionals on a journey that involved late nights, early mornings and loads of commitment to their culinary craft. They transformed the space from near bankruptcy into one of GQ's “Top 10 Restaurants in America” and nominee for three James Beard Awards.

“Food is one of the most important connections between people and I hope to create lasting relationships with neighbors, friends, farms and local vendors.”

When he is not behind the stove, Barber is building his motorcycle, piece by piece, or surfing the waves, 2 blocks from Barnyard.


Raised in Portland, Celia developed her palate and love of fresh, honest food from a young age. At Clark Lewis she learned the balance of leadership and communication necessary for a restaurant to succeed. Celia has hosted, served and managed in some of Portland’s and LA’s busiest restaurants.

“Working with people and having face-to-face interactions is what gives my life meaning: sharing stories, enjoying food and wine, laughing, creating culture and community.”

In her spare time, Celia studies wine and beer and samples as much of LA’s culinary offerings as her busy schedule will allow. Her deft hand with family-style leadership makes her a wonderful manager for the Barnyard front of house.
